I am an artist, poet, graphic designer, and mental health enthusiast. I am also a teacher with my Bachelor of Education degree, which I earned with Distinction from the University of Alberta. I received my Graphic Design certification while on the Dean's List from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.

Why a blue heron?

Warm exhales create hazy clouds that float away from the canoe. We put our paddles across our laps and let our fibreglass and birch vessel slow on the calm, chilly Alberta lake. We spot a large bird, graceful and stately, walking on long legs through the sandy banks. The contemporary theropod cocks its head our way. Huge wings reaching nearly 6 feet lift the blue heron off the shore and into the morning sunrise. Breathless we watch its silhouette fade.

In my personal mythology, blue herons bring both luck and peace.
